Staff Email - Add non-personal account to current profile in Outlook 2010

The instructions below assume that Outlook 2010 has already been configured for your personal email account. If you have not already done this please follow our Outlook configuration instructions to first setup your personal account, before returning here to add the non-personal account to the same profile.  If you are not running Outlook 2010 please contact the helpdesk to get information on how to upgrade to Office 2010.

  1. Close all applications, including Outlook
  2. Choose Start - Control Panel
  3. Choose the Mail control panel icon
  4. Click the Email Accounts button

  5. Click the New button to add a new email account to the profile


  6. Under Choose Service select E-mail Account and click Next
  7. By default the Add New E-mail account window will open and list the personal account you are logged in as - this is not desired in this case. Tick the box beside the Manually configure server settings or additional server types and click Next.
  8. Under Choose Email Service select the Microsoft Exchange or Compatible service option and click Next
  9. Enter the Server name -
  10. Use Cached Exchange Mode should be ticked
  11. For User Name enter the 4-8 character username of the non-personal email address

  12. Click Next
  13. You will get a screen informing you that you have successfully entered all the information required to setup the account, click Finish on this window
  14. Click Close and Close again
  15. When you next start Outlook 2010 you will be prompted for the username and network login password of the non-personal email account. Enter the User name in the form COLLEGE\username.

  16. For Password enter the network login password for this account. You should already have been advised by IS Services to call into the Helpdesk with your College ID card to retrieve the network login password for this non-personal email account.
  17. Check the box beside Remember my password
  18. Click OK
  19. When the popup window appears make sure to enter the same non-personal username and password
  20. You can now see the non-personal email account listed below your own personal email account in the list of email folders.  When you are sending an email from there will now be a new From option at the top of the new mail window. Click on this to select which exchange email account you want to send the current email from. The listing titled Microsoft Exchange is your own personal email account and is the non-personal email account.
