Email Headers

Sometimes if you have experienced a problem with your email, or perhaps if you are receiving SPAM mail messages, you may be asked to submit the headers of your mail message to the Helpdesk for examination. An email header is a piece of data pre-pended to an email message which contains information about the message, such as its length, source of the email and the destination address. In the case of SPAM it is sometimes possible to trace the origin of the message thus blocking any future SPAM messages from that source.
