Web browser proxy settings - teaching & research network
Access to websites outside the College website is via a 'proxy server', which requires you to authenticate yourself before you can access external web sites. This means you must enter your username and network login password the first time you go to an external website each time you launch your web browser. Below are links to instructions for configuring the most popular web browsers to use the College web proxy server.
Note that users of the TCDconnect service should refer to the instructions supplied when registering for that service. The instructions below pertain to computers connected to the College teaching and research network in offices and laboratories.

Notes on using the web proxy
- Note that you will only be asked for your password when you first access an external website. If you close your web browser and reopen it you will again be prompted for your username and password on first going to an external site
- Because a web proxy server is used, access to external web pages is sometimes referred to as 'proxy' access
