The building was completed in 2001. It contains 5 storeys above ground plus a basement level. In the basement there are laser research rooms, a large lecture hall, offices and storage rooms. The Ground Floor contains labs, offices, and the workshop and conference rooms. The 1st to 4th floors house the larger labs; researcher's and staff offices, common room and storage rooms. Floor 5 contains the plant room.
